I didn't know you were Jewish!

Should be sleeping but instead rewatching episode 1 of Dexter Season 1 while juggling any and every task that can be completed late at night around the house...which is quite a lot of them, you'd be surprised!

In episode 1, Sgt. James Doakes, an African-American police detective who later uncovers that Dexter (who has always given him the creeps) is not just a blood splatter analyst by day but also a serial killer who hunts serial killers by night, walks into Dexter's cubicle at the precinct and the following hilarious conversation ensues:

Dexter: "Is there something I can...[help you with]?"

Doakes: "Yeah, you can help me! You can get me the f#$@ing blood splatter analysis on these killings. You think I'm here to invite you to my nephew's bris?"

Dexter, a psychopath who rarely shows facial expressions, looks surprised and says, "I didn't know you were Jewish!"

(A clip of the scene is available on YouTube and embedded above. Language advisory applies.)

Watch me on the Jewish Channel!

Been meaning to post this for a while!

You can now watch the entire Jewish Channel episode of "Jews of color" for free on You Tube. Watch me along with an unbelievable cast of other Jews of color, including social worker and moderator Joel Sanchez, rapper/writer/blogger Yitz "Y-Love" Jordan, founder of Ayecha and my mentor Yavillah McCoy and also Akira Ohiso who is publisher and author of the fabulous book, "Surviving."

Thank you to everyone who has already watched the episode and emailed me nothing but compliments. In high school, I was in the drama club (and even stole the part of a 15-year-old boy from an actual 15-year-old boy!) but I thought nothing was more torturous than afterwards watching myself on tape. Well, at least I had a good hair day!

Converted, Married and a baby on the way...all in two weeks!

This is an all too familiar story if you've been reading this blog: a non-Jewish woman married to a Jewish husband wants to convert but the Jewish family is horrified and they tell her "be Jewish but don't be too Jewish!"

In this wonderful video, Lori Platanik tells us the story of her friend Leah in Paris who converted, got married and had a baby all in the span of two glorious weeks! Mazel tov and nothing but blessings to Leah and her family!

Periodic "Outages"

Hi, dear readers. Thank you for all the emails you've been sending to check up on me. I'm sorry I haven't gotten to all of them, especially to those of you who have been expecting a response for months now.

Periodically over the next few weeks, the blog will be open or closed to readers. Won't go into the details but if you check back every other day, you might catch it open or closed. If you haven't checked it out, there's plenty to read in my portfolio!

I hope all of you are having a healthy and happy summer! My contact information is on the blog if you need it.
